《第13話》 わかるひとにしかわからない、早稲田大学法学部英作文

現在では20歳になると成人して大人になったと認められる。さて、君の考えは次のうちどれ？

どれか一つを選んで英語で解答せよ、と。

その１：現行の法律（20歳で成人する）に賛成である。

その２：もっと年齢を低くするべきだ。例えば18歳とか。

その３：いやいや、もっと年齢を上げるべきだ。例えば22歳とか。

どれか「一つを」、そう、しつこいですが、「どれか一つを」選んで書けばよい。

全部書く必要はありませんよ。問題文の英語をよく読みましょうね。

（その１）

I agree with the current law that Japanese citizenz become adults

when they reach the age of 20.

That is the first year when they are no longer teenagers, so it makes sense.

This is when they start to realize their own mortality. They are no longer teenagers and have to

start being more responsible.

（その２）

　I believe that the age of majority should be reduced to 18. Citizens are already out of

high school at this point and some enter the work force. If they are expected to work and

supoprt themselves, they should be considerd adults. Also, they are able to do many other

things by this age, so why should they still be seen as children?

（その３）

　I think it would be a good idea to increase the age of majority to 22.

At this point in a person's life, they should already be working and supporting themselves.

However, until they can prove themselves resposible , they should not be considered

fully adult. They must prove that they are good citizens first.
